atpotato is a small studio making the atmosphere a little more fun, with apps, tools and guides for the open network bluesky is built on. some are useful, some are peaceful, and some are just silly.

it's dug, planted and watered by dame, who's been working in open, decentralized social software since 2021, and has been on bluesky since the invite-code days. everything here grew from that, one layer at a time.

      dame begins working professionally in open, decentralized social software, years before the atmosphere had a name.

  2. 2022

    1. dame starts working at ipfs

      ipfs gives every file an address made from what's inside it. atproto borrows the same trick, the cid, to fingerprint every record on the network.

  3. 2023

    1. dame joins bluesky

      back when you still needed an invite code. they start out as dame.bsky.social, and never really leave.

  4. 2025

    1. flushes opens

      the internet's bathroom: a tiny, silly app for status updates from the throne. the first thing to sprout.

    2. atpotato takes root

      a potato with an @ on its tummy moves into atpota.to, to give all the little experiments a home.

    3. anisota ecloses

      a moth-themed bluesky client that deals your feed out as a deck of cards, and helps you be offline more.

    1. flushes 2.0, for the trevor project

      $1,000 goal, nearly met on day one

      all-gender, always. the relaunch raised money for lgbtq+ young people.

    2. anisota turns one

      with post scheduling, muted word lists, and a logo that follows the phase of the moon.

    3. 38 influential posters

      110,000+ votes, from about 15,000 people

      a ballot for bluesky's most influential posters, made with @pds.dad. every vote was a record in the voter's own repo.

    4. turtle meat

      an old school runescape sea turtle game, with a live grand exchange and a global chat on atproto.

    5. poe wakes up

      the potato in the corner starts answering atproto questions on bluesky, as @poe.atpota.to.

    6. atpota.to relaunches, with poe's dispatch

      a whole new atpota.to, with poe's weekly atmosphere dispatch, a community garden, and a live weather report for the network.
